Who we are
This policy describes how Commutro handles data across commutro.com and app.commutro.com (collectively, the "Service"). "Commutro", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the operator of the Service, and the terms of service govern its use. Questions about this policy: hello@commutro.com.
What we collect
- Purchase and contact details. Name, email address, and company name when you request or buy a report, together with the IP address the request came from. We keep the IP address to prevent abuse and fraud and to attribute requests. Payments are handled by a third-party payment provider; Commutro does not store full card details.
- Analysis inputs. Your current office address, the candidate buildings you enter, and your employees' locations. Employee street addresses are reduced to ZIP codes on the spot and are never stored.
- Technical data. Standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, and usage data collected through Google Analytics, such as pages viewed and how you reached the site.
Employee addresses
Commutro does not have access to employee street addresses. If addresses are entered, they are reduced to ZIP codes on the spot and the addresses are never stored. What our systems hold is a headcount per ZIP code, with no names or other identifiers attached, which cannot identify any individual employee.
The personal information we hold
The personal information Commutro holds is limited to:
- Purchaser contact details. The name, email address, and company of the person who requests or buys a report, and the IP address the request came from (internet activity information).
- Server logs. Standard technical logs, including IP addresses.
- Usage analytics. Google Analytics data about visits to our pages, held for us by Google.
Office and building addresses are business locations, not personal information. Employee locations exist only as ZIP-level headcounts, as described above.
How we use data
To compute and deliver your reports, operate and improve the Service, respond to you, and analyze demand for our services.
Sharing
We use service providers to run Commutro, such as hosting, email delivery, mapping, and payment processing, and share with them the data they need to provide those services.
If your analysis includes a building, we may tell its owner or leasing broker that a company is considering it, and may include your contact details so they can help with your search. We may also share search activity in an area with landlords and brokers there, including your contact details, so they can offer relevant space.
What we may share with landlords and brokers does not include your IP address, and we do not sell or share it.
Commutro may also share data with third parties, including analytics providers and business partners.
Do not sell or share my personal information
Commutro may share the contact details you give us with landlords and brokers so they can help with your office search. If you are a California resident, you have the right to opt out of this "sale" or "sharing".
To opt out, use Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information, which requires no account, or email hello@commutro.com.
We also honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals: if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out automatically, and you do not need to do anything else.
Retention
We intend to keep each online report accessible for at least 90 days after purchase, subject to temporary outages and circumstances outside our reasonable control; after that period reports may expire. The executive PDF you download is yours to keep. Other data is kept as long as needed for the purposes above.
Security
All traffic to Commutro is encrypted over HTTPS, and we take reasonable technical measures to protect the data we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Cookies
commutro.com uses Google Analytics, which sets analytics cookies so we can see how the site is used. The Commutro application uses functional and analytics cookies; we do not use advertising cookies. You can block cookies in your browser settings. This site works without them, though parts of the application, such as signing in, may not.
Third-party content
Reports and the application display map and place content from Google Maps. That content is fetched from Google by your browser, and Google's privacy policy applies to it.
We use Google Analytics to measure how our pages are used. It sends usage data, such as pages viewed, the referring site, and approximate location, to Google, and Google's privacy policy applies to that data as well.
Children
Commutro is a business service. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Where data is processed
Commutro is operated from the United States, and data is processed and stored there. If you use the Service from elsewhere, your information is transferred to the United States.
We send email needed to deliver the Service, such as your report. If we ever send marketing email, it will include an unsubscribe link that we honor.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Write to hello@commutro.com and we will respond.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page with a new date.
